The work behind BruvsChess began around 2007-2008 as BruvsChess Academy, an idea started by Abejide Ayodele and Fawole John Oyeyemi. They were friends who regarded each other as brothers, and that sense of brotherhood shaped the early vision: use chess as a serious educational tool for children and schools.
In those early years, the work grew through persistence. Abejide pursued school opportunities in Lagos, while Fawole did the same in Osun State. They visited schools, shared proposals, and kept building the idea long before the structure became formal.
After years of conversations, refinement, and growth, the education service was formally registered in Abuja in 2019. Today, BruvsChess carries that same founding spirit forward through school chess programs, private lessons, evaluation sessions, and state-level program support.
